HCCD Buwan ng Wika 2017
The Holy Child College of Davao, Matina Campus, recently celebrated the annual Buwan ng Wika with the theme theme “Filipino: Wikang Mapagbago”. This is in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s advocacy to strengthen the nation. This is also to implement the Presidential Decree No. 1041 s. 1997 which aims to relate an avenue for students to showcase their skills in the different Literary and Musical events; promote unity and camaraderie among students of different courses through the meaningful uses of the Filipino Language; and make students feel that sense of “belongingness” in the Holy Child Community.
The activity was participated by all College Instructors handling Filipino subjects and students enrolled in Filipino Subjects. General Education Coordinator Mr. Michael Muega prepared various activities and competitions to allow the students of Filipino classes to appreciate the importance of Filipino language in education. The Program was held last August 28, 2017 at the HCCD Gymnasium. Fil2b students under the class of Ms. Neneth F. Malinao bagged the awards for OPM solo (1st place), Speech Choir (1st place), Folk Dance (1st place), Poster Making Contest (1st place), and Quiz Bowl (2nd Place). One of the highlights in the event was the Lakan and Lakambini 2017 which were bagged by the two amazing personalities from the class of Mr. Muega. Also, the winners for duet romantiko were from his class
The event was hosted by Fil2A students Gilbert T. Relativo and Guadalupe S. Banga. Announcement of winners was initiated by Mr. Michael Muega. Indeed, it was a successful celebration and the skills and talents showcased by students only proved their timeless creativity and their deep sense of love for our national language.
